Fidyah

Fidyah is compensation that must be paid by individuals who are unable to fast during Ramadan due to valid reasons, such as chronic illness or old age. Fidyah serves as a substitute for the missed fasting obligation by providing food to those in need. The amount of fidyah required is equivalent to the cost of one day's meal for a poor person, for each day of fasting missed. The value of fidyah may vary depending on the cost of food in your area. Fidyah does not replace the obligation to fast if an individual is still capable of making up the missed fasts later. It is strictly for those who are genuinely unable to fast. Important note: Please ensure that fidyah is given to those who are eligible to receive it, such as the poor and needy. Additionally, we recommend adding 2% to your total fidyah payment if you are using a credit card—this will cover any transaction fees charged by credit card companies, ensuring your intended fidyah amount is fully distributed.
